πŸ“’ Future of Kirkcaldy Results Revealed

We’ve been covering the big plans in the pipeline for Kirkcaldy over the last few months, following its award of Β£240m from the UK Government’s Growth Mission Fund. Last month, Melanie Ward, Labour MP for Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy, put out a call for Fife residents to fill out a survey to make their voices heard and have their say on what the money should be spent on to improve the Lang Toun.

An incredible 700 people filled out the survey, ensuring that a wide range of views have been captured. And, at an event last week at Fife College, attended by over 100 people, Melanie Ward outlined the results of the survey. Key highlights included:

  • 65% want a more attractive waterfront

  • 53% are calling for better tourism facilities

  • 52% want more derelict buildings demolished

  • 27% think more facilities for young people are needed

MP Melanie Ward has stated that she now intends to take the survey results to the Fife Council, which will be in charge of spending the money after submitting a business case to the UK Government. You can see full details of the survey results here.

Do you think this investment will make a big difference to Kirkcaldy?

πŸ† Fife Restaurant Wins Prestigious Award

The Fife food scene seems to be on a bit of a rip recently. Just a few weeks ago, we covered the 2 Fife restaurants added to the Michelin Guide, with the Kingdom now boasting an impressive 9 such establishments on the list. Now, Fife is seeing further success with Haar Restaurant being awarded 4 AA Rosettes in the latest update, becoming only the fifth restaurant in Scotland, and the first in Fife, to have 4 Rosettes.

Already in the Michelin Guide, Haar is run by Dean Banks, a former Masterchef: The Professionals finalist, and operates at 1 Golf Place in St Andrews, just moments from the iconic Old Course. Known for its modern seafood cuisine, the restaurant focuses on local produce with a Β£39.50 fixed price lunch menu offering an affordable way to enjoy their creations. Check it out here!
