TODAYβS TOP STORY
π€ Joint Talks in Support of Mossmorran Workers

The Scottish and UK governments held joint talks yesterday with Fife Council and local business leaders to discuss how best to support the workers at the Mossmorran chemical plant in Fife.
There had been tension in recent days after the two governments invited each other to different meetings, with Labourβs Douglas Alexander planning a meeting on Monday and the SNPβs Kate Forbes hosting another on Tuesday. However, both parties appear to have now agreed to work together in finding the best solution for impacted workers.
Eyes are now on the budget with reports suggesting that the UK Government will commit Β£14.5m of investment to Grangemouth after the site's oil refinery stopped processing crude oil in April, raising hopes that, whilst seemingly unlikely, support could also be possible for Mossmorran. [BBC]

FEATURE OF THE WEEK
π₯ Fife Distillery Saved in Just 3 Days
It's been just over a month since we reported on the opening of Eden Mill's new flagship distillery and visitor centre in Guardbridge, just outside St Andrews. As such, we were surprised to read last week that the business had entered administration on November 18th with 42 jobs at risk.
This was a result of the distillery's parent company, St Andrews Brewers Limited, collapsing following the accumulation of significant amounts of debt. While the new visitor centre cost Β£17.5m and experienced significant delays, a slowing in global whisky sales alongside increased costs due to inflation will also have had a significant impact on the business's ability to manage its debts.
Thankfully, it took just 3 days for the company to be rescued from administration, with Ruby Capital acquiring it for an undisclosed sum following an accelerated sale process led by administrators Begbies Traynor. It is expected that all 42 jobs will be saved as a result. This is welcome news at a time when Fife has already seen significant job loss announcements over recent weeks.
