πΉ New 24/7 CCTV Hub for Fife High-Rise Residents

Fife Council has officially opened a new Β£360,000 CCTV hub designed to improve safety and peace of mind for people living in high-rise flats across the Kingdom.
Based at the councilβs Halbeath depot, the hub will provide a round-the-clock security service, using the latest technology to monitor all high-rise blocks. Housing staff will also carry out evening, weekend and overnight patrols, ensuring that issues can be dealt with on the spot.
The service will allow staff to respond more quickly to incidents, while CCTV footage will support investigations into vandalism, anti-social behaviour, and fly-tipping. [Fife Council]

πͺ How Fifeβs Child Support Pathway is Helping Families

Fife Council, in partnership with NHS Fife, launched a new Neurodevelopmental Support Pathway in August 2024, following a three-year pilot in West Fife. The programme is transforming how children and young people with additional needs are supported, moving away from the old system that depended on formal diagnoses of Autism, ADHD, or Learning Disabilities.
Instead, the focus is on the individual childβs needs, bringing together education, health, and social care teams to provide faster, more practical support. Key features include:
Requests for Assistance replacing referrals, allowing schools and families to ask for support earlier
Weekly triage meetings where health and education staff decide the best next steps
Dedicated helplines for families and professionals, which received nearly 1,500 calls in the first year
Training for 500+ staff across schools, health, and social work
Between August 2024 and June 2025, the pathway received 1,656 requests, with 61% coming from primary schools. Almost half of the cases led to diagnostic assessments, while many others received direct support without waiting for a formal diagnosis.
The initiative is backed by Β£100,000 of council funding each year. Next steps include a full evaluation of year one data, a multi-agency research project to gather feedback from families and young people, continued staff training, and improved data sharing between education and health services.
