TODAYβS TOP STORY
π· Β£40 Million Funding Boost for Fife Communities

Whilst a lot of the headlines have been covering the big plans for Kirkcaldy, which recently had its own funding win, there are even more Fife communities set to benefit from investment. Indeed, the UK Government has now committed up to a further Β£40 million to 2 local areas over the next ten years through its new Pride in Place programme. The areas set to benefit include:
West Fife: Oakley, Comrie and Blairhall, Valleyfield, Culross and Torryburn, Kincardine, Saline and Gowkhall.
Central Fife: Methil and Buckhaven
Locations were selected using the Index of Multiple Deprivation and Community Needs Index. Under the programme, communities will receive Β£2 million per year for the next decade to spend on projects they choose themselves. The idea is to give residents control over how to regenerate their local areas, with funding that's long-term, flexible and community-led.
However, with the funding spread across multiple communities over a decade, questions remain about how transformative it will actually be. At Β£2 million per year for each area, and with inflation eroding purchasing power over time, will this be enough to deliver the meaningful regeneration these communities need?
Will this funding have a large positive impact? |

FEATURE OF THE WEEK
π Fife Collegeβs Best Results in Nearly a Decade

Fife College has reported its strongest performance since 2017, with official Further Education Statistics showing major improvements across student satisfaction, course completion and employment outcomes.
Over 8,000 students completed their courses in 2024-25, the largest proportion of Fife skills graduates in seven years. Student withdrawals have also fallen to their lowest level since 2018-19, reflecting improved teaching and strengthened student support.
Student satisfaction has reached a five-year high, with 94% of full-time students satisfied with their College experience and 96% saying they would strongly recommend Fife College to others. The College also maintains one of the highest positive destination rates in Scotland, with 91.7% of students progressing into work, training or further study within 3-6 months of completing their courses.
Perhaps most impressive is the boom in modern apprenticeships, with the College securing its largest ever contract worth Β£2.5 million for 2025-26. More than 1,200 apprentices will be earning and learning with Fife College in key industry skills, including defence, construction, healthcare and hospitality. [Fife College]
