π΄ Major New Travel Plans For Fife

Fife Council has signed off on a new Active Travel Strategy and Action Plan (2025β2035), aiming to make it easier and safer for people across the Kingdom to walk, wheel, and cycle. The plan sets out a long-term vision to cut emissions, improve public health, and reduce reliance on cars by boosting access to high-quality active travel routes.
Some of the key commitments include:
Growing the proportion of trips walked, wheeled, or cycled from 23% in 2019 to 30% by 2033
Cutting transport emissions by 56% by 2030
Reducing car use by 20% by 2030
Improving accessibility of town centres, buses, and active travel routes by 20% by 2033
Making people feel safer, with a target to boost public confidence in walking, wheeling, and cycling by 20% by 2033
The strategy was shaped through consultations with community councils, equality groups, local businesses, climate groups, and residents. Dialogue will continue each year to help shape ongoing plans. An interactive map of the proposed Fife-wide network will also be published online, showing local and strategic connections, including the National Cycle Network.
You can view the full strategy here.
