TOP STORIES AROUND THE KINGDOM
π Stagecoach Making Sweeping Changes to Fife Bus Services

Thereβs been lots of good news recently for Fifeβs transport network, which weβve covered here at the Fife Insider. From new train routes and services following the completion of Leven and Cameron Bridge stations, to the exciting prospect of a ferry link to France, things have been looking up. But Stagecoach is here to temper the mood a little, with major changes announced for services across the Kingdom.
Starting Monday, 18th August, several adjustments will take effect on various Fife bus routes. These changes come amid new school contract arrangements and ongoing challenges with congestion and roadworks, which have been impacting service reliability. Key updates include:
Certain bus journeys on routes 3 and 4 will now only run on non-school days.
Route 7 will no longer serve Camdean after 6pm daily due to problems with parked cars.
Route 31βs timetable is adjusted with some trips starting earlier or extending routes on schooldays.
Afternoon services on route 36 from Newburgh to Glenrothes are withdrawn.
Several routes (38, 39, 39A) will have some journeys limited to non-school days only.
Route 89 will no longer serve parts of Dunfermline, though the X22 will continue covering some areas.
Evening and Sunday schedules on routes 90B, 91, and 91C are retimed to boost reliability.
Some routes like the X24 and X27 will stop serving Kincardine High Street due to parked car issues, switching to nearby stops instead.
The X52 route will be completely withdrawn due to low usage.
And several other timetable tweaks aim to improve punctuality and service efficiency.
For a full breakdown of the updates, you can read the official Stagecoach announcement here.
Will these change affect you? |

π Another Fife Beach Wins a Blue Flag Award

In a recent issue of the Fife Insider, we asked for your help in naming Fifeβs best beach. With over 400 votes, Leven East came out on top, securing 27.5% of the vote. So, itβs no surprise to hear it has just been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag from Keep Scotland Beautiful.
The Blue Flag is given to clean, well-managed, and sustainable beaches that demonstrate excellent beach management and environmental best practice. Leven East is now one of 13 beaches in Fife to hold this award.
Levenmouth Area Committee Convenor, Cllr Colin Davidson, praised the news: βThe Prom and the East Beach are looking beautiful and Iβm sure will attract so many more tourists this year. We have invested a significant amount of money in the area and the new facilities and parking are encouraging more and more visitors in motorhomesβ. [Fife Council]
