🐟 Famous Fife Chippy Up For National Award

Wherever I’ve lived, I’ve always had a favourite chippy, and I’m sure most of you are the same. Living in Fife, though, we’re spoiled with some of the best in the country right on our doorstep. Nowhere more so than Anstruther, where not one but two chippies are regularly winning awards.

The most famous is the Anstruther Fish Bar, a long-time favourite that often makes the UK’s “best fish and chips” lists. But its local rival, and also highly awarded, The Wee Chippy, has been enjoying a great spell of recent recognition. Just last week, it was crowned Best Chippy in Scotland at the Scottish Takeaway Awards 2025, and now it’s been shortlisted for an even bigger prize: the 2026 Fish and Chip Takeaway of the Year.

With 40 chippies from across the UK competing, the Wee Chippy faces tough opposition, but having tried it myself on a couple of visits, I’d say they’re in with a real shot. • 🏫 Concerns have been raised over overheating at Dunfermline’s Learning Campus, the world’s largest Passivhaus school, with councillors urging better temperature control to balance energy efficiency with pupils’ comfort and wellbeing.
