The space includes outdoor consultation areas and accessible planting features, forming part of a wider move towards more holistic, non-clinical care environments.

  • πŸ‘ Volunteers across Levenmouth have been recognised at a special celebration event which brought people together to share stories, receive thanks and celebrate the positive impact volunteers have in strengthening communities across the area.

  • 🚧 Fife Council has approved Β£25,000 for road repairs at Charlestown Green, following damage caused by large vehicles mounting verges on the narrow route. with funding set to support both short-term fixes and longer-term improvements.

  • 🌊 Hundreds of students from University of St Andrews took part in the annual May Dip at East Sands, running into the North Sea at sunrise in a long-standing tradition believed to bring good luck for exams. The event follows the torchlit Gaudie procession, which commemorates a historic sea rescue and forms part of the university’s unique student customs.

  • 🏠 Fife Council is planning to purchase up to 100 properties over the next year as part of efforts to tackle the housing emergency, alongside a wider target of delivering nearly 1,800 affordable homes by 2029. The move would double previous acquisition goals.

  • πŸš† The Scottish Green Party is calling for a renewed push to create a direct rail link between Dunfermline and Stirling, reviving plans that stalled after the Longannet project collapsed. Supporters say reopening the line could boost tourism, improve transport links and support local education, with proposals also including new stations at places like Newburgh and Halbeath.

  • πŸ‘Ά Hallie and Alfie were the most popular baby names in Fife in April, with the busiest days for births falling on the 1st and 7th, when 14 babies were welcomed on each day. A total of 234 babies were born during the month.

  • 🌳 Fife Council is exploring plans to expand the Willie Clarke Centre at Lochore Meadows Country Park as visitor numbers continue to grow beyond one million a year. Councillors highlighted pressure on facilities including the cafΓ© and toilets, with discussions underway on securing funding to increase capacity and support future development of the popular park.

TODAY’S TOP STORY

πŸ₯Ύ Could a Fife Path Be Britain's Best?

Fifers are being encouraged to nominate their favourite local path for a national competition celebrating Britain's best walking routes. The Ramblers' Britain's Favourite Path 2026 competition, supported by Postcode Lottery players, asks people to submit a photo and short story about the path that means the most to them, with entries open throughout May. Judges including presenter Matt Johnson, singer and farmer JB Gill, and broadcaster Amar Latif will shortlist winners across eight regional categories, including Scotland, before a public vote decides the overall winner later this summer.

Fife has no shortage of contenders. The Fife Coastal Path is an obvious candidate, stretching 117 miles from Kincardine to Newburgh and offering stunning views across some of Scotland's most picturesque coastline. But there are plenty of other worthy routes: the Lomond Hills pathways with their panoramic Kingdom views, woodland trails around Tentsmuir Forest, or even lesser-known urban green routes that help people connect with nature close to home.

Last year saw hundreds of nominations from across the UK, with eight paths shortlisted before the public vote. To enter, simply submit a photo of your favourite Fife path along with a short story about why it's special. Entries close May 31st. Head here to make your nomination.
