π§ 38 Events To See This Week
Good morning, Fifers! Todayβs issue is a little shorter than usual as Iβm taking some time away, but everything will be back to normal in Fridayβs edition.
Letβs jump in, thereβs plenty to talk about!

LOCAL HEADLINES YOU NEED TO KNOW
π¦ Fife Council is consulting Kirkcaldy residents on plans to introduce 20mph limits across the town, aiming to cut road deaths and injuries. Locals can view proposals and share views online or by phone.
π§ The demolition of Kirkcaldyβs two long-empty multi-storey car parks on the Esplanade and Thistle Street is moving ahead. Contractors have fenced off the sites, with demolition due to begin in December and finish by late 2026, paving the way for new mixed-use waterfront development.
πͺ Plans for a women-only gym in St Andrews have been approved, despite council concerns over losing industrial space. Pink Health and Fitness will open in a former garage unit.
π³ Letham Glen in Leven has been awarded the prestigious Green Flag by Keep Scotland Beautiful.
πΉ Dunfermline Skatepark has reopened after a Β£300k revamp, delivering a modern, inclusive space shaped by local skaters and community partners, encouraging active lifestyles and youth engagement in the cityβs Public Park.
π¨ A person was rescued from the water at Leven beach on Friday. Anstruther lifeboat and coastguard teams responded, with the incident concluding safely by 3.30pm.
π‘ Greener Kirkcaldy has secured Β£272k from Ofgemβs Energy Redress Scheme to deliver its Connecting Communities project, offering tailored energy advice to 700 vulnerable Fife households facing fuel poverty and digital barriers.
π Fife Council is developing a Β£248k business case to provide swimming lessons for non-swimming P5 pupils, aiming to improve safety, health, and life skills, with targeted lessons across nine venues.
π₯© Auchtertool-based The Farmers Son has been shortlisted for the 2025 Great British Food Awards in the Butcher Counter category for its black pudding, made with a century-old recipe. Winners will be announced in October.
π Dunfermline firm Blancomet Scot has applied to store and recycle hybrid car batteries at Pitreavie Business Park. If approved, two containers will handle storage and dismantling, with SEPA reviewing permit changes.
π Ground investigations are under way in Cardenden for a major flood protection scheme. Lasting seven weeks, the works will inform the projectβs design, with construction expected to begin in 2027 pending approvals.
πΈ Tributes are being paid to the talented Graham Redpath, frontman of Dunfermline Foo Fighters tribute band Foo Fifers, who died suddenly on August 9. All upcoming gigs have been cancelled.
